The one thing that is not included
Automatic translation, so families who speak English as an additional language read your posts in their own. It is in development. When it arrives it will be an optional add-on — a fixed annual fee plus translation credits — and it will stay optional.
Everything else on this page is included in the £450.
What it replaces
The honest comparison is not against another app. It is against what your office is already spending to get a message to a parent.
A 300-family primary, sending two text messages a week
Thirty-nine school weeks. 300 × 2 × 39 = 23,400 messages a year.
Before a single printed newsletter, and before the time your office spends on the phone repeating information that could have been in the app. Bulk SMS in the UK currently runs from about 2.5p a message at high volume to over 10p at low volume — put your own numbers in and the comparison only gets wider.
Questions we get asked
- Is there really no setup fee?
- No. We build your app, brand it, load your first content and hand it over, and none of that is charged for. The £450 is the whole amount.
- Do you charge per message?
- No. Post as often as you need to. The reason schools ration text messages is that each one costs money — that decision disappears here.
- Do you charge per parent, or per download?
- No. A school of 90 and a school of 1,900 pay the same £450.
- Is there VAT on top?
- No. We are not VAT registered, so £450 is the figure on the invoice.
- What happens at the end of the 28 days?
- We get in touch and ask whether you would like to subscribe. That is the whole process. The trial does not turn into a paid subscription on its own, and there is nothing to cancel if you decide it is not for you.
- What happens after the first year?
- It renews automatically each year at the same price. If you would rather it didn’t, email us at info@jigsawschoolapps.com at least three months before your renewal date and we will stop it. We will email back to confirm, so you have it in writing from both sides.
- How do we pay?
- By bank transfer. We invoice the school and you pay the invoice in the ordinary way — no card details, no direct debit, and nothing stored on file.
- We have more than one school.
- Trusts, federations and groups get a discount. Tell us how many schools and we’ll put a figure to it.
- How long have you been doing this?
- Since 2013. The same people who built the first Jigsaw school app still build and support it today — which is worth asking any supplier before you commit a year of your school’s communication to them.
